The official shop sells more than the general ticket and the Upper Royal Quarters. Two visits go where the ordinary route never takes you: the roofs of the Gothic Palace with the upper floor of the Galería del Grutesco, and the archaeological crypt. Both are small, both sell out, and the first one is not a tourist product at all.

The roofs and the upper Grutesco gallery
The shop describes it in one sentence: a guided and free visit, for people born in or resident in the city of Seville, to the upper floor of the Galería del Grutesco and the Balcón de Carlos V, continuing afterwards into the main floor of the monument.

What you have to bring is unusually strict, and worth reading twice:
Your DNI or a certificate of registration in Seville, shown at the gate together with the ticket.
Tickets are personal. The shop states that all tickets are nominative and that an ID or passport is asked for at the access control.
No food or drink except water, and milk for babies.
If you live in Seville, this is the best thing the Alcázar gives away: the view along the old wall and from the Balcón de Carlos V is not on any paid route. If you are visiting from abroad, it is not open to you, and any site offering to sell you "roof access" is selling something else.
The archaeological crypt
The shop also lists a visit to the archaeological crypt, the excavated levels beneath the palace. On the day we checked it was agotado, sold out, with no dates available, which is the normal state of the small visits here. The shop does not publish a price or a schedule while it is sold out, so watch the page if you want it.
The archaeology it shows is the story told in the Islamic history of the Alcázar: the Abbadid palace under the Patio de la Montería, and the Almohad walls the later palaces were built against.
