About This Guide and Who Writes It

This site is written and researched by Simon York. It is an independent visitor guide to the Real Alcázar of Seville, not connected to the Patronato del Real Alcázar, which runs the monument, and it does not sell entry tickets.

What I do, and what I do not

I research. Every price, opening hour and rule on this site is read off the official visitor page or the Alcázar's regulations, and every page carries the date it was last checked. The current check is September 18, 2026.

I have not visited the palace. Plenty of guides to the Alcázar are written by people who live in Seville, and where first-hand experience matters, theirs is worth more than mine. What I offer instead is that nothing here is remembered or assumed: it is looked up, dated, and sourced, and when a number changes on the official page it changes here.

Where the official site says nothing — the hours of the free Monday visit, how many tickets are held at the gate, whether you may bring a dog — I say so plainly rather than guess. Several well-ranked pages answer those confidently and cite nothing. You will find the list of what nobody publishes in the FAQ.

Where the facts come from

• Prices, hours and rules: the official visitor page and the regulations.
• History: published reference works and the UNESCO listing, named on the page that uses them.
• What visitors report: traveller forums, quoted as visitor reports with their date, never as official policy.
• Tour prices and ratings: read from the booking page on the date shown. They change; the date tells you how stale ours might be.
• Photographs: openly licensed work from Wikimedia Commons, each credited to its photographer. No image on this site is generated.

How the site earns money

Some links to guided tours are affiliate links: if you book through one, the site may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. It does not change the advice. The official ticket is named first on every page that mentions buying, because at €15.50 it is the cheapest way in, and we earn nothing from it.

Found a mistake?

Prices and rules change, and a dated page is a page that can go out of date. If something here is wrong, tell me and I will check it against the source and correct it.
