Official ticket or tour: the flexibility question
This is the difference people miss. Official tickets are non-refundable: article 8 of the Alcázar's official regulations only allows a refund when the visit is impossible for a reason attributable to the Alcázar. So:
Dates fixed? The official ticket at €15.50 is the cheapest way in.
Dates might move? A tour with free cancellation lets you book early, hold a good slot, and cancel up to a day before if plans change.
The building makes sense. A guide explains how a Christian king came to build a palace in Islamic style, what the inscriptions say, and which part belongs to which century.
Less planning. One booking, one meeting point.

Which one should you book?
Booking weeks ahead, plans may change: the small-group tour, with free cancellation.
You want the patios without the crowds: the early access tour, which enters before public opening (1 hour 30 minutes, ★ 5.0).
Only one morning for the big sights: the Alcázar and Cathedral tour, Viator's best seller, or the version with the Giralda. Their conditions: non-refundable and non-refundable, so book them once your dates are fixed.
