Visitors enter through the Puerta del León (Lion Gate) on Plaza del Triunfo, the square between the Alcázar and Seville Cathedral. From anywhere in the old town it is a short walk; the nearest public transport stops are Archivo de Indias (tram T1) and Puerta de Jerez (metro line 1).

The official address is Patio de Banderas, s/n, 41004 Sevilla. The visitor gate and transport stops are as reported by local guides; the official site does not name the gate.

Getting there

From How
Old town / Santa Cruz Walk, 5 to 10 minutes to Plaza del Triunfo
Seville Cathedral 2 minutes across Plaza del Triunfo
Tram Archivo de Indias (tram T1), then a few minutes' walk
Metro Puerta de Jerez (metro line 1), then about 10 minutes' walk
Santa Justa train station Taxi, about 15 minutes

Driving into the centre is not worth it: the streets around the Alcázar are narrow and largely pedestrian. Use a public car park outside the old town and walk or take the tram.

At the entrance

  • Look for the tiled lion. The Puerta del León (Lion Gate) is named after the heraldic lion in tiles above the arch.
  • Have your ticket ready on your phone with the entry time you booked. Tickets are for a time slot, not the whole day.
  • Expect a security check. Keep bags small (see visitor rules and tips).
  • Guided tours meet at a point set by the operator, usually on Plaza del Triunfo. Check your booking.

Arrive early for your slot

Aim to be at the gate 10–15 minutes before your time. The first slot of the day is the calmest time inside; see the best time to visit.
